SteinkeTool started on a workbench that was more mess than method — a coffee-ring-stained notebook full of half-finished Ohm's law scribbles, a jar of resistors nobody had sorted since 2019, and one too many LEDs sacrificed to a forgotten current-limiting resistor. The pattern became obvious: the calculations that trip up a hobby build are almost never the hard ones. They're the small, repetitive bits of bench math you do wrong at 1 a.m. because you were tired, or in a hurry, or trusted a voltage rail that was quietly sagging under load.

So we built the calculators we personally kept re-deriving on scrap paper. The goal was never to compete with a proper circuit simulator or replace a good textbook. It was to remove friction from the specific moments where a maker just needs one trustworthy number — the resistor that saves the LED, the wattage rating that stops the smoke, the runtime figure that's honest about efficiency losses instead of wildly optimistic.

I run the editorial side of this project. I've spent more evenings than I'll admit populating protoboards, chasing noise on analog lines, and explaining to friends why their "5-volt" project keeps browning out. That teaching-a-friend voice is the one I try to keep on every page here — plain, patient, and allergic to jargon for its own sake. When a tool ships with an explanation, I want it to read like something a helpful bench neighbor would say, not a formula dumped on you without context.
